Welbeck Street car park is a brutalist icon. A true one of a kind structure famous for its diamond-patterned facade. Despite this, the local council sold off the building in 2017 to make way for a luxury hotel. Demolition commenced in 2020.

I didn't know it was possible to form a bond with a housing estate, but here we are. The year is 2021 and I've been filming the decline, destruction and 'regeneration' of Robin Hood Gardens for 6 years now. I owe this place a great deal. My previous 2 films about the estate have opened doors for my filmmaking career. I've been extremely lucky to attend festivals all around Europe to showoff my work and to showcase my affection for Robin Hood Gardens. It has always been my goal to preserve what I can on video. For my final film, I've included footage from 2015, 2018 and 2021 with voice over from the architects themselves in an attempt to explore what the true vision for the estate was.

Like the majority of council housing in London, the estate is under threat by private developers set on demolition and promising 'regeneration'. Clifford Grant, a long term resident, delves into the history of the estate and argues why Central Hill needs to be saved.

‘Light at Night’ is a short film comprising several vignettes over the past 3 years in London. I combine fleeting snapshots of my time alone in the city - a solo drink in a jazz bar in soho, sheltering in an underpass during a downpour, watching the fireworks out of my flat window etc. Everything was shot on my phone, in the moment. I wanted it to feel authentic to me - unpolished and raw to my emotions.

Originally built to house over 7,000 people, the Aylesbury estate in South East London was one of largest housing projects in Europe when completed in the 1970s. Today it has fallen into rapid decline and perfectly encapsulates the growing housing crisis and problems caused by gentrification.

2021 started with a positive coronavirus test. Being forced to quarantine for 10 days truly made me appreciate the beautiful view from my tiny London flat.
